Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a Scottish-born writer and physician best known for creating Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, where the diagnostic skill of his teacher Joseph Bell helped inspire Holmes's powers of observation and deduction.
His detective stories include The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, the collection available here on unQbd. Doyle also wrote historical novels, plays, poetry, and adventure fiction, including The Lost World.
